Physician and surgeon average salary for all 50 states

The average salary for physicians and surgeons across the country is $211,390, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics data collected in May 2017.

Physicians and surgeons have the highest annual salary in New Hampshire, where surgeons make more than $275,000; Nebraska has the lowest wage earning physicians at around $167,000 on average.

Here is the average annual salary for physicians and surgeons by state, ranked from highest to lowest. This list excludes salary data from anesthesiologists, family and general practitioners, internists, obstetricians and gynecologists as well as pediatricians.
