St. Jude Children's Research Hospital plans $84M office tower as part of $1.2B expansion

Memphis, Tenn.-based St. Jude Children's Research Hospital has disclosed plans to build a 10-story, $84.5M office tower as part of a $1.2 billion expansion project, according to the NH Voice.

According to hospital officials, the $1.2 billion investment in infrastructure is one element of a $9 billion strategic plan of expansion and care programs and studies at St. Jude.

The hospital submitted construction permit documents for the new tower last week.

The new office tower will be an extension of the ALSAC headquarters, the fundraising and awareness organization for St. Jude, which works to raise and steward funds to operate and maintain the hospital and its research. ALSAC is funding the hospital's six-year strategic plan that started this fiscal year, according to the report.

Under the strategic plan, ALSAC and St. Jude will increase their workforces by nearly 1,000 each with the expansion of research, a 20 percent increase in the number of patients treated on campus, international outreach and the launch of a graduate school in biomedical research.
