Cleveland Clinic CEO Credited With Idea of City’s New Medical Mart

Delos M. “Toby” Cosgrove, MD, CEO of Cleveland Clinic, has been credited for the idea of a Medical Mart in Cleveland, on which construction will begin in January as part of the city’s effort to rebrand itself as a healthcare hub, according to a Bloomberg BusinessWeek report.

The $465 Medical Mart & Convention Center will be targeted towards manufacturers of healthcare equipment and provide space to showcase and market high-tech medical tools. The mart will be located near Cleveland Clinic and is expected to attract well-paying industry jobs to the region.

The medical mart has been called the “brainchild” of Mr. Cosgrove, according to the report. Mr. Cosgrove said he has traveled all over the country to see different pieces of medical equipment, and it would be helpful to see everything in one place, according to the report.
