Advocate Christ Medical Center | 100 Great Hospitals in America 2015

Advocate Christ Medical Center (Oak Lawn, Ill.). The nonprofit, 694-bed teaching institution provides emergency care for nearly 100,000 patients per year and has one of the busiest Level I trauma centers in Illinois. Advocate Christ Medical Center serves as a major referral hospital in the Midwest for several specialties, including cardiovascular services, organ transplant, neurosciences, oncology, orthopedics and women's health.

In 2014, the hospital was re-designated as a Magnet hospital for the third consecutive year. Advocate Christ Medical Center is also accredited overall by the international DNV and holds DNV certification as a Comprehensive Stroke Center. DNV Healthcare is a global independent accreditation organization. Advocate Christ Medical Center's Cancer Institute has achieved three-year accreditation from the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons, and is rated three stars — the highest possible — by the Society of Thoracic Surgeons. It is one of the nation's leading centers for the implementation of left ventricular assist devices to support patients with heart failure.

In its most recent rankings, U.S. News & World Report ranked Advocate Christ Medical Center No. 3 in Chicago and in Illinois, as well as among the top 50 hospitals in the nation for cardiology and heart surgery, geriatrics, gynecology and neurology. The medical center was also listed among Healthgrades' Top 100 Hospitals in America for 2015.

In their own words:

"Inclusion on Becker’s Hospital Review’s list of 100 Great Hospitals in America is truly an honor because of the rigorous criteria used to evaluate hospitals. This national recognition underscores the commitment and achievements of the outstanding team at Advocate Christ Medical Center. Our 1,200 physicians and 6,000 associates work collaboratively every day to ensure our patients receive the best in safe, quality and compassionate care. Their passion for excellence and their commitment to our ministry of healing is why our medical center is listed among the nation’s very best hospitals in terms of health outcomes, patient satisfaction and overall quality and safety. We look at each of our awards as further motivation to continue growing, improving and innovating our delivery of care for all our patients."
