Two Former NY Presbyterian Hospital Execs Convicted of Wire Fraud

Four individuals and three corporations were convicted this week for their involvement in an eight-year kickback scheme to defraud New York Presbyterian Hospital in White Plains, according to a news release from the Department of Justice.

Santo Saglimbeni, a former vice president of facilities operations at NYPH, awarded contracts for asbestos abatement, construction and other facility services to two other individuals — Michael Yaron and Moshe Buchnik — and their respective companies in exchange for more than $2.3 million in kickbacks. Emilio "Tony" Figueroa, a former director of facilities operations at NYPH, helped Mr. Saglimbeni in funneling these kickbacks.

Mr. Saglimbeni, Mr. Figueroa, Mr. Yaron and Mr. Buchnik have been convicted of wire fraud and wire fraud conspiracy, which each carry a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison. Sentencing for all four defendants is scheduled for June 20, 2012
