Patient escapes from custody at Ben Taub

A patient in police custody escaped from Houston-based Ben Taub Hospital Jan. 15, reports KHOU.

The woman, 37-year-old Collin Danielle Anderson, was brought to the hospital with a police escort and escaped after a nurse escorted her to a hospital restroom, according to KTRK.

The hospital went on lockdown while police searched for Ms. Anderson, who had been arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance.

Houston-based Harris Health System, which operates Ben Taub, told ABC13 the hospital is open and accepting patients.

Police captured Ms. Anderson within 24 hours. She now faces an additional escape charge.
