Massachusetts House Speaker Robert A. DeLeo (D) plans to file legislation next month in an effort to reduce the state's annual growth of healthcare costs to roughly 3.7 percent — about half of the current 6.7 to 8 percent, according to a Boston Globe report.
Reducing healthcare spending growth to 3.7 percent would bring it in line with the overall growth in the state's economy. Rep. DeLeo did not say how the proposal would reduce spending growth, but Rep. Steven Walsh (D), cochairman of the Committee on Health Care, said it would address payment inequities among providers, according to the report.
