Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn Signs Budget, Includes $276M in Medicaid Cuts to Hospitals

Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn has signed off on the proposed state budget that includes $276 million in Medicaid cuts to hospitals, according to a Benton Evening News report.

Key hospital leaders, including the Illinois Hospital Association, have appealed to Illinois lawmakers to halt payment reductions to hospitals and stop the state administration from having unilateral power to cut rates, according to the news report.

Maryjane Wurth, president of the Illinois Advisory Hospital, said the Illinois Hospital Association will request an override of the payment reductions when the General Assembly returns to Springfield in October during its annual veto session.
