Marshfield (Wis.) Clinic may partner with Wausau, Wis.-based Aspirus to build a new $175 million-plus patient care facility near the current Marshfield Clinic complex, according to a report by the Marshfield News-Herald.
Marshfield currently has a confidentiality agreement with Aspirus, which prevented many of the details of the potential project from being disclosed. However, Marshfield Clinic Health System CEO Dr. Susan Turneywrote in an email to the Marshfield News-Herald that the two parties are "in active discussions."
Although there is no hard deadline for a final decision on the deal, Dr. Turney said she expects Marshfield to update its board this spring and discuss next steps in the near future.
Marshfield Executive Director Narayana Murali told the Marshfield News-Herald that adding the facility will ensure local specialist physicians have the technology they need to care for patients.
