Vanderbilt Heart and Vascular Acquires Cardiology Practice in Tennessee

Vanderbilt Heart and Vascular Institute in Nashville has acquired South Central Heart Group, a five-physician practice in Columbia, Tenn., according to a Vanderbilt news release.

Under the acquisition, SCHG will become Vanderbilt Heart-Columbia. The practice was under Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia, where Vanderbilt Heart has provided cardiovascular and thoracic surgery since 2007. As of May 1, the expanded relationship will include interventional and non-interventional services.

The practice currently operates part-time satellite clinics in Lewisburg, Pulaski, Lawrenceburg and Hohenwald. As Vanderbilt Heart–Columbia, the practice will continue to serve these communities and examine the possibility of expanding into additional locations within the region, according to the release.

“We are pleased to work together with Maury Regional and this outstanding group of physicians in their mission to serve heart patients. The physician office will remain on their campus and we have plans to recruit additional cardiologists as this practice continues to grow,” said Keith Churchwell, MD, Vanderbilt Heart and Vascular Institute CEO, in the release.
