Detroit Medical Center Replaces Local Radiology Group

The Detroit Medical Center has replaced its local radiology group with one based in California, according to a Crain's Detroit Business report.

The eight-hospital system was formerly affiliated with the Reynolds Group, which is composed of Wayne State University School of Medicine and private DMC physicians. Now, effective Jan. 1, Santa Monica-based Imaging Advantage will provide radiology services at DMC for five years.

Imaging Advantage contracts with hospitals to replace private radiologists with contract or employed physicians. DMC Executive Vice President and COO Mary Zuckerman said Imaging Advantage will contract with the 40 radiologists in the Reynolds Group. They have reached a tentative agreement but are still finalizing long-term contracts.

Ms. Zuckerman also said DMC will save money under the new radiology contract. The system will also generate additional revenue by leasing space to Imaging Advantage for a teleradiology center that will enable radiologists to remotely read digital images.
