HCA Virginia Renamed LewisGale Health System

HCA Virginia Health System has announced that it will change its name to LewisGale Regional Health System, according to an HCA Virginia news release.

The health system operates Lewis-Gale Medical Center in Salem, Va., and the new name will extend that brand throughout the entire system. The new name will represent all 38 HCA-owned facilities, including four hospitals, within HCA Virginia.

Lewis-Gale will undergo a slight name change when it becomes LewisGale Medical Center. Other HCA Virginia hospitals will be renamed LewisGale Hospital followed by a geographic identifier. Allegheny Regional, Montgomery Regional and Pulaski Community will become LewisGale Hospital - Allegheny, Lewis Gale Hospital – Montgomery and LewisGale Hospital - Pulaski, respectively.

The decision to rebrand the system came after months of consumer research and is intended to better represent the size and score of the system.

A similar branding strategy will be adopted by HCA-owned physician practices, imaging centers and the health system's two regional cancer centers.
