Dallas' Baylor Healthcare Joins Collaborative to Trim Costs, Boost Quality

Dallas-based Baylor Healthcare is the latest provider to join the High Value Healthcare Collaborative, which is comprised of 13 other organizations such as Mayo Clinic and Cleveland Clinic, according to a Baylor news release.

Members of the collaborative share information and resources, such as outcomes data, costs and best practices. Baylor was nominated and accepted for membership based on its strong, research-based quality improvement program, advanced health information technology, solid financial and operational resources, a committed staff and a history of working with other institutions.

Initially, HVHC is focusing improvement efforts on nine relatively common conditions, including knee replacement, diabetes, asthma, hip surgery, heart failure, perinatal care, depression, spine surgery and weight loss surgery. The HVHC plans to tackle additional conditions and challenges in the coming months and years.
