Connecticut's Danbury Hospital to Lay Off 129 Workers, Outsource Food Services

Danbury (Conn.) Hospital plans to lay off 129 food service workers in October as it will outsource its kitchen, cafeteria and coffee shop to a private company, according to a News-Times report.

Morrison Management Specialists is the company taking control of the hospital's food services. According to the report, it has offered jobs to a majority of the hospital's workers, and the hospital's contract with Morrison will not involve pay cuts for rehired workers.

Management at Danbury Hospital estimates it will save roughly $1 million per year by outsourcing its food services.
