Alabama's Trinity Medical Center to Build New Medical Clinic to Settle Lawsuit

Trinity Medical Center in Birmingham, Ala., will build a medical clinic in Irondale, Ala., to settle a lawsuit between the hospital and the city of Irondale, according to a Birmingham Business Journal report.

Irondale sued Trinity in 2009 after the medical center halted plans to move to the city, which left Irondale with a loss of $32.2 million in bonds issued to help develop the site. Under the settlement agreement, Trinity will pay an undisclosed amount to Irondale, build a medical clinic in the city and hold continual contractual obligations for the site.

Trinity is now trying to relocate to the former HealthSouth Digital Hospital in Birmingham.
