1. Inova Health System, headquartered in Falls Church, Va., cut 117 mid-level management positions.

2. Glens Falls (N.Y.) Hospital will begin a nurse staffing transition in which licensed practical nurses will be "phased out" through attrition in order to hire on more registered nurses.

3. Enloe Medical Center in Chico, Calif., will cut five administrative positions and merge several departments due to healthcare reform, federal budget cuts and a weak economy.

4. Medical College of Georgia Health in Augusta, Ga., may consider layoffs as a way to balance its budget in the wake of an anticipated $14 million drop in funding.

5. Jewish Hospital in Louisville, Ky., eliminated 155 jobs, with one-third of the job cuts affecting vacant positions.

6. Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in Dover, N.H., laid off 37 workers and reduced the hours of nine employees to offset large state budget cuts.
