Northwestern Memorial Hospital Names Dr. Stephen Ondra CMO

Northwestern Memorial HealthCare in Chicago has named Stephen Ondra, MD, as CMO of Northwestern Memorial Hospital, effective April 16.

Dr. Ondra joined Northwestern Memorial in 1996 as a neurosurgeon and assistant professor of neurological surgery at the Feinberg School of Medicine. While at Northwestern, he held several esteemed posts including vice chair of the medical school's department of neurosurgery, director of its residency program and fellowship program in spinal reconstructive surgery. During this time, he also served as the medical director for the hospital's neurospine intensive care unit.

Dr. Ondra is the former senior policy advisor for the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs. Since 2009, he has served as co-chair of health information technology in the office of science and technology policy for the executive office of the president of the United States.
