Servier chooses Google Cloud for AI drug development, data analysis

Pharmaceutical company Servier has selected Google Cloud for its "digital transformation" as it aims to use high-performance computing and artificial intelligence to further its data analysis and insights, the firm said Sept. 22.

"Data and artificial intelligence are opening up tremendous prospects for drug discovery, disease prevention and improved treatment adherence across the entire pharmaceutical value chain," Virginie Dominguez, executive vice president of digital, data and information systems at Servier, said in the news release.

She said the company chose Google Cloud because of its knowledge of the healthcare sector, commitment to regulatory compliance and "stringent digital sovereignty requirements."

Google Cloud is working with health systems such as Brentwood, Tenn.-based LifePoint Health and New Hyde Park, N.Y.-based Northwell Health on similar efforts in the hospital sphere.

Servier said the collaboration could help fast-track drug development through AI or use real-world data to do advanced analyses of drug efficacy and tolerability.
