UPMC Susquehanna receives nearly $300k grant for improvements around Lock Haven Hospital

Lock Haven (Pa.) Hospital, the facility purchased earlier this year by Williamsport, Pa.-based UPMC Susquehanna, is the beneficiary of a $285,266 state grant for a streetscape improvement project.

Pennsylvania Rep. Mike Hanna, D-Clinton/Centre, made the announcement Wednesday, saying the grant from the Commonwealth Financing Authority's Multimodal Transportation Fund Program will cover more than half of the project cost. The total cost is about $408,000.

Mr. Hanna said the project involves sidewalk installation, lighting and landscaping for Cree Drive and Irwin Street near Lock Haven.

"These improvements are critical due to the 47-bed hospital's remote location in one of Lock Haven's residential communities," he said. "Currently, residents walk on Cree Drive and other city streets due to the lack of sidewalks, creating potentially serious conflicts between vehicles and pedestrians."
