Four Western New York Hospital Execs Made More Than $1M in 2010

Four executives at Buffalo, N.Y.-based hospital systems raked in compensation packages of more than $1 million in 2010, according to a Buffalo Business First report.



James Kaskie, president and CEO of Kaleida Health, had the highest compensation of any hospital executive in Western New York, earning $2.36 million. Two other Kaleida Health executives topped the million-dollar mark. Chief Medical Officer Margaret Paroski, MD, made $1.24 million, and COO Connie Vari, RN, earned $1.15 million, according to the report. All three executives' compensation totals included deferred retirement payments.

Joseph McDonald, president and CEO of Catholic Health System, was the final million-dollar hospital leader in the Buffalo area, as he made $1.09 million in 2010.

Other notable 2010 salary and compensation figures of Western New York hospital executives include the following:

•    Judith Maness, president and CEO of Mount St. Mary's Hospital & Health Center in Lewiston, N.Y.:  $723,156
•    Jody Lomeo, CEO of Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo, N.Y.:  $673,728
•    Joseph Kessler, CFO of Kaleida Health:  $580,337
•    Donald Trump, MD, president and CEO of Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, N.Y.:  $579,999
•    Peter Bergmann, president and CEO of Sisters of Charity Hospital in Buffalo, N.Y.:  $540,698
•    Timothy Finan, president and CEO of Olean (N.Y.) General Hospital:  $517,716
•    Mark Barabas, president and COO of ECMC:  $456,030
•    James Dunlop, CFO of Catholic Health System:  $418,170
