Building a new tower can be a capital-intensive undertaking for a hospital.

Here is what four health systems are paying to build new medical towers:

  1. Gaithersburg, Md.-based Adventist HealthCare is paying $180 million for a new six-story tower.

  2. Detroit-based Henry Ford Health paid $265 million for a new five-story tower.
  3. Jupiter (Fla.) Medical Center is paying $110 million for a new 92-bed patient tower.

  4. Children's Hospital of Richmond (Va.) unveiled a new $400 million, 16-story tower.
