Omaha (Neb.) VA Medical Center has begun its $86 million expansion project, according to Live Well Nebraska.
The project is a 157,000-square-foot ambulatory care facility that will house new exam rooms, an outpatient surgery suite and a women's health clinic.
Medical center officials said the expansion will allow 400 additional outpatient visits to the medical center daily.
The project is the result of a partnership between the Veterans Affairs Department and Heritage Services, a local nonprofit group that has worked to get construction projects up and running in the area.
VA is contributing $56 million toward construction, and Heritage is responsible for raising the remaining $30 million.
