The Regional Medical Center of Orangeburg (S.C.) & Calhoun Counties and its affiliated physician practices are ending their relationship with health insurance company UnitedHealthcare, effective March 1, according to a Times and Democrat report.
The hospital said it had been in discussions with the payor about its commercial rates since last year. RMC President Tom Dandridge said the payor's rates were not commensurate with other commercial payors in the area and that UnitedHealthcare had not increased payments to RMC's physician practices since the contracts began in 2005, according to the report.
RMC ended its contract with only the UnitedHealthcare commercial product; the UnitedHealthcare Community Plan Medicaid HMO product will not be affected.
