Pennsylvania's Doylestown Hospital, Independence Blue Cross Enter Into Agreement to Reward Improved Quality, Cost

Doylestown (Pa.) Hospital and Independence Blue Cross have entered into a new four-year agreement that will reward to the hospital and its physicians for providing high quality care at a lower cost.

The contract, which began Dec. 1 and runs until Oct. 1, 2015, will include Doylestown in IBC's Integrated Provider Performance Incentive Plan, which provides financial incentives to hospitals and their affiliated physicians for delivering improved performance when compared to their historical baseline.

"Our IPPIP program fosters a greater level of integration between hospitals and physicians while recognizing and rewarding them for reducing hospital acquired infections and readmissions and for delivering better health outcomes," Doug Chaet, senior vice president of contracting and provider networks at Independence Blue Cross, said in a statement.
