Massachusetts' Milton Hospital Posts Losses Again Following 2010 Turnaround

Milton (Mass.) Hospital has posted net patient service revenue of $48.3 million for the first nine months of FY 2011, down from $49.4 million for the same time period last year, according to a Boston Business Journal report.

The hospital's shrinking financial health comes one year after it turned around finances to end the year in the black. With expenses growing to $50.4 million for the first nine months of FY 2011, Milton Hospital currently stands with a $670,075 loss so far for this year, largely due to declines in surgical and inpatient revenue, according to the report.

CFO Jason Radzevich, however, said the hospital plans to end the year in the black. Meanwhile, Milton Hospital is due to merge with Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.
