Garth Brooks Takes Integris Health to Court Over Donation

Garth Brooks and Oklahoma-based Integris Rural Health headed to court yesterday over the country singer's claims the system failed to carry out its promise to rename the its facility in Yukon, Okla., in honor of his mother, Colleen Brooks, according to a KJRH report.

In 2005, Mr. Brooks donated $500,000 to Integris under the belief its Yukon facility would be renamed in her honor. However, he claims he was informed in 2008 that the donation would instead be used for an earmarked expense.

The hospital claims that while it did mock-up renderings of the hospital bearing Ms. Brooks name, the donation was handed over without conditions, according to the report.

Mr. Brooks is asking for his donation to be returned and reimbursement for his attorney's fees. The hospital is asking for the case to be dismissed.
