Appeals Court Hearing on Health Reform Law Set for June 8

The Obama administration's appeal of a judge's ruling to strike down the healthcare reform law is scheduled to open in an Atlanta-based appeals court on June 8, according to a Bloomberg Businessweek news report.

On Jan. 31, U.S. District Judge Roger Vinson struck down the entire healthcare reform law, after hearing arguments in a lawsuit filed by 26 states seeking repeal of the healthcare reform law, citing the legislation as unconstitutional.

The states submitted a request for a full-panel review of Judge Vinson's decision, but the appeals court denied that request and said a randomly selected three-judge panel would hear the challenge instead, according to the news report.
