2 Mississippi hospital employees dead in shooting

Two hospital employees were killed in a Feb. 19 shooting outside of Jackson, Miss.-based Baptist Medical Center, WAPT-TV reports.

Browning Luckett Jr., a 64-year-old security guard, and Christina Deloris Davis, a 34-year-old hospital employee, were shot in the hospital's parking lot around 6:30 a.m.

According to police, the suspected gunman shot Ms. Davis, who is believed to be his girlfriend, in a domestic-related incident. The suspect then shot Mr. Luckett when he tried to intervene. The suspect  fled in Ms. Davis' car and was found dead at a nearby cemetery from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said. A relative identified the suspect as Jamal Antoine Holmes.

Baptist Medical Center was not placed on lockdown.

"The police are at the scene, and our campus is safe and accessible to all who need care," Kimberly Alexander, communications manager for Baptist Memorial Health Care, said in a statement.

"We are deeply saddened by this horrific tragedy. Our team members are our family, and losing two of them under these circumstances is devastating," Ms. Alexander said.
