FTC Approves Sale of MedCath's Heart Hospital of New Mexico to Lovelace Health

The FTC has approved the sale of MedCath's Heart Hospital of New Mexico in Albuquerque to Albuquerque-based Lovelace Health System, according to an FTC list of early terminations granted on May 27.

Early this month Lovelace signed a definitive agreement to purchase the assets and operations of 55-bed Heart Hospital of New Mexico from Charlotte, N.C.-based MedCath.

As part of the deal, Lovelace Health System, which is owned by Nashville, Tenn.-based Ardent Health Services, will pay $119 million for the hospital.
