Lee Memorial Health System Forms Partnership With Inpatient Specialists of Southwest Florida

Lee Memorial Health System, based in Fort Myers, Fla., has announced a relationship with newly formed, Fort Meyers, Fla.-based physician group Inpatient Specialists of Southwest Florida.

ISSF will manage and provide hospitalist services to all four of LMHS's hospitals.

The decision to form the partnership was a result of a multi-year effort by LHMS to restructure its hospital medicine services for greater consistency and efficiency. ISSF will provide a comprehensive hospital medicine program that spans across the health system, which is a unique approach to a critical service for patients that is often fragmented in large health systems.

"Our affiliation with ISSF is reflective of our commitment to serve our community in a manner that allows us to excel under healthcare reform and puts patients first as we work to improve the patient experience," Scott Nygaard, MD, CMO of Lee Memorial Health System, said in a press release.

ISSF formed through a partnership of two physician affiliates of LMHS: Cogent HMG and Hospitalist Group of Southwest Florida. Cogent HMG, based in Brentwood, Tenn., is a national provider of hospitalist and intensivist services for hospitals and post-acute care facilities. HGSF is local hospitalist physician group based in Cape Coral, Fla. ISSF is led by Cogent HMG.
