During a recent lunch with President Donald Trump, Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W. Va., proposed reviving a bipartisan plan to stabilize ACA markets, according to The Hill.
Last year, Sens. Lamar Alexander, R-Tenn., and Patty Murray, D-Wash., proposed legislation that would have funded cost-sharing subsidies and given states flexibility regarding certain ACA regulations.
While some Republican lawmakers objected to the bill over funding for abortions, President Trump had been hesitant to to support it because he viewed its subsidies as bailouts for insurance companies.
"I said he's the one who can make a difference. We already have a bipartisan agreement. If he signs onto it, it would be great," said Mr. Manchin. "I think he's going to look at it; I hope he does."
