Senate Republican Policy Chairman John Barosso, R-Wyo., said he expects the Senate to vote on the AHCA next week, according to The Hill.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., had set the July 4 recess as an informal deadline for the Senate to vote on the bill, though various reports from GOP senators made it unclear whether or not that was possible. A small faction of very conservative senators have distanced themselves from the Senate’s version of the bill, threatening to compromise the party’s majority unless they maintain parts of the House bill that moderate senators hoped to soften.
Republicans have a slim two vote majority, with Vice President Mike Pence holding the tiebreaking vote in the event the Senate is deadlocked.
