House Democrats are launching a Medicare-for-All caucus to support single-payer healthcare legislation, according to The Hill.
The caucus, composed of roughly 60 lawmakers, is led by Reps. Pramila Jayapal, D-Wash., Debbie Dingell, D-Mich., and Keith Ellison, D-Minn. Mr. Ellison is sponsor of the Expanded and Improved Medicare for All Act.
Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., supported single-payer healthcare during his 2016 presidential campaign, and many Democrat potential candidates for the 2020 presidential elections also support the idea.
"It's the increasing view of everyone that single-payer is inevitable," said Dan Riffle, a spokesman for Mr. Ellison, according to The Hill.
