20 New Hospital and Health System CFOs Named in 2010

Here is a list of 20 new hospital and health system CFOs announced in 2010, listed in alphabetical order by last name and organized by month of the announcement of their hiring.

January


Steven Brown (Marion General Hospital, Marion, Ohio). Mr. Brown was named the new vice president of finance and CFO of Marion General Hospital. He previous served as the hospital's director of finance since 1998.

Kelly Curry (Health Management Associates, Naples, Fla.). Health Management Associates named Mr. Curry its new CFO. He most recently served as the company's chief administration officer.

Russell Gronewold (BryanLGH Health System, Lincoln, Neb.). BryanLGH Health System appointed Mr. Gronewold as its new CFO. He previously served at Alegent Health, including as its vice president of business development.

Kevin Walstrom (PeaceHealth, Bellevue, Wash.). Mr. Walstrom was named the new senior vice president and CFO of PeaceHealth, a regional health system that serves communities in Alaska, Washington and Oregon. He previously served as CFO for Providence Health Care in Eastern Washington State.

Benjamin Carter (Trinity Health, Novi, Mich.). Mr. Carter has been named the new CFO of Trinity Health. He previously served as COO of Detroit Medical Center and CFO of Dearborn, Mich.-based Oakwood Healthcare.

Jesse Saucedo (Heartland Spine & Specialty Hospital, Overland Park, Kan.). Mr. Saucedo was named the new CFO of Heartland Spine & Specialty Hospital. Prior to joining Heartland, he was a rural health specialist with KSF & Associates in Alpine, Texas, and was CFO of Catholic Health Initiatives in Great Bend, Kan.

Jay St. Pierre (Parkridge Medical Center, Chattanooga, Tenn.). Parkridge Medical Center has named Jay St. Pierre its new CFO. He most recently served as CFO of HCA Medical Center of Arlington in Arlington, Texas.

Jeff Blankenship (West Tennessee Healthcare, Jackson, Tenn.). Mr. Blankenship was named the new vice president and CFO of West Tennessee Healthcare. He previously served as the interim CFO of the health system.

Tracey Fernandez (Riverside Community Hospital, Riverside, Calif.). Ms. Fernandez was appointed as the new CFO and vice president at Riverside Community Hospital. She most recently worked at the hospital as interim CFO and assistant vice president and controller.

Vince Pryor (Edward Hospital, Naperville, Ill.). Edward Hospital has appointed Mr. Pryor as its new CFO and senior vice president of finance. He previously served as CFO and senior vice president of finance for Ingalls Health System in Harvey, Ill.

Michael Trainer (Akron Children's Hospital, Akron, Ohio). Mr. Trainer was appointed as the new CFO and treasurer at Akron Children's Hospital. He previously was interim CEO for the hospital for five months and a vice president for the hospital.

John Deakyne (St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center, Reno, Nev.). Mr. Deakyne was appointed to be the new vice president and CFO of St. Mary's Regional Medical Center. He most recently served as interim CFO for the hospital.

May


Dean Swindle (Catholic Health Initiatives, Denver). Mr. Swindle was appointed Catholic Health Initiatives' new CFO and executive vice president, business services. He previously served as CFO at Novant Health System in Winston-Salem, N.C.

June


Jill Hiner (Summa Western Reserve Hospital, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio). Ms. Hiner was named the new CFO and vice president of finance of Summa Western Reserve Hospital. She has served as the organization's controller since 2005.

Nancy Templin (All Children's Hospital, St. Petersburg, Fla.). All Children's Hospital has named Ms. Templin its new CFO. She served most recently as senior director for finance/treasury at Children's Medical Center in Dallas.

Jim Young (Wesley Medical Center, Hattiesburg, Miss.). Wesley Medical Center has Mr. Young its new CFO. He most recently was in charge of accounting and financial functions at Gilmore Memorial Regional Medical Center in Amory, Miss.

Bob Allen (Catholic Healthcare West, Los Angeles; Glendale Memorial Hospitals, Glendale, Calif.). Mr. Allen resigned from his post as CFO of Valley Presbyterian Hospitals in Van Nuys, Calif., to serve as CFO at Catholic Healthcare West's California Hospital Medical Center in Los Angeles and Glendale (Calif.) Memorial Hospital.

Cliff Hendren (Angel Medical Center, Franklin, N.C.). Mr. Hendren has been named the CFO of Angel Medical Center. He formerly worked at hospitals in Lexington, Tenn., and Lancaster, S.C. 

Tim Jodway (Garden City Hospital, Garden City, Mich.). Garden City Hospital has named Tim Jodway the new vice president and CFO. He most recently worked at Northern Michigan Regional Health System in Petoskey, Mich., as CFO.

Dale Spencer (Banner Health Community Hospital, Torrington, Wyo.). Banner Health Community Hospital has named Mr. Spencer its new CFO. Mr. Spencer has worked in small hospital management and healthcare for 18 years in hospitals in West Virginia and North Carolina.
