UC Davis Medical Center Opens $33M Cancer Center Expansion

University of California Davis Medical Center in Sacramento announced it is opening an approximately $33 million new wing of its UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center today.

UC Davis Medical Center opened a new wing of its cancer center.The cancer center (pictured left, courtesy of UC Regents 2012) expanded by 46,000 square feet, bringing the center's total square footage to 110,000.

The expansion was created to meet increased demand. It also brings all UC Davis cancer providers to the same location, supporting the center's integration of cancer care and research programs.


The center includes the following features:

•    A floor dedicated to pediatric cancer patients, including five examination rooms and 13 infusion chairs for chemotherapy treatment.
•    Two adult cancer floors, including a 31-chair infusion center and 16 exam rooms.
•    Other specialized clinics under development that will offer psychiatric care, palliative care and chronic pain management.
•    Additional space for Phase 1 clinical trials.
•    A resource center and pharmacy.

The cancer center will also launch a new late-effects clinic to help young adult cancer survivors manage long-term side effects of childhood cancers.
