Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center Develop Closer Partnership

Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge, La., and Baton Rouge, La.-based Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center have entered into an agreement to create a closer, integrated alliance.

The organizations will be jointly branded as Mary Bird Perkins-Our Lady of the Lake Cancer Center and will integrate their cancer services, processes and interactions.

MBPCC and OLOL have been accredited together since 1992 by The American College of Surgeons. In July, the organizations' cancer program was selected by the National Cancer Institute for continued participation in the National Community Cancer Centers Program for the next two years after being first selected in 2007.

As an NCCCP site, Mary Bird Perkins-Our Lady of the Lake Cancer Center will focus on ensuring cancer care access, best practice survivorship services, clinical trials and multidisciplinary cancer care teams.

The unified cancer center will be governed by a Cancer Center Leadership Team including MBPCC and OLOL executives and medical staff leaders. However, MBPCC and OLOL will continue to operate as separate entities with individual board leadership. Cancer center staff and physicians will retain their current status as members of MBPCC or OLOL, according to the release.
