CMS has approved Kentucky's proposal for a statewide managed care system for its Medicaid program, according to a Courier-Journal report.
Under the plan, Kentucky contracted with three private managed care companies to provide services to approximately 560,000 Medicaid beneficiaries while also saving money, according to the report.
The contracts go into effect on Oct. 1, though the changes will not affect those in nursing homes and Medicaid programs for the disabled. The changes will also not affect those who receive Medicaid services through Passport Health Plan, which already has a separate contract with the state.
