John Halamka Leaves CIO Post at Harvard Medical School

John Halamka, MD, will be leaving his part-time role as chief information officer at Harvard Medical School so that the university can bring on a full-time leader to fill the position, according to an InformationWeek news report.

Dr. Halamka will continue to serve as CIO of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston and will continue his relationship with Harvard as an advisor. A well-known figure in the health IT circle, Dr. Halamka also co-chairs the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT's Standards Committee and chairs the public-private Healthcare Information Technology Standards Panel, according to the news report.
