Accreditation Association for Hospitals/Health Systems announces new board president, board member: 5 things to know

The Accreditation Association for Hospitals/Health Systems, administrators of a comprehensive accreditation program customized for rural hospitals, critical access hospitals and surgical specialty hospitals, has announced a new board president and board member.

Here are five things to know about the leaders.

Jack Egnatinsky, MD, a board-certified anesthesiologist, experienced medical surveyor and former lieutenant commander in the U.S. Navy, is the new chairman of the AAHHS Board of Directors.

1. Dr. Egnatinsky has been a member of the AAHHS board since 2012, and also serves as the medical director of the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care and Acreditas Global, sister organizations of AAHHS.

2. Dr. Egnatinsky has been a medical surveyor for AAAHC since 1996.

Christopher J. Vesy, MD, a board-certified gastroenterologist with a focus in HIV disease, is the newest member of the AAHHS board.

3. Dr. Vesy practices at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas.

4. Dr. Vesy is managing partner of Dallas Endoscopy Center and a medical software company, Creative Empowering Solutions.

5. Dr. Vesy received his medical degree from The Ohio State University in Columbus, followed by an internal medicine internship and residency at Duke University in Durham, N.C., and a gastroenterology fellowship at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas.
