South Carolina Senate Committee Approves Telemedicine Bill

The South Carolina Senate Medical Affairs Committee has unanimously approved a bill that requires state employee insurance plans — but not all insurance plans — to reimburse physicians for telemedicine diagnoses or treatments, according to a report by The Greenville News.

The bill also sets up a Telemedicine Advisory Council to review the effectiveness of telemedicine and determine how best to expand its use.

The bill now moves to the South Carolina Senate, according to the report.
