Personal Health Card to Hold Patient Health Information

Personal health cards could allow individuals to securely maintain their personal health record on a card that can be stored inside a wallet, according to a news release from LifeNexus.

The personal health card can store health information, including demographic data, emergency contacts, insurance information, medical history, immunizations, allergies and prescriptions.

The card utilizes "mobile server" technology embedded on a chip card, which is both encrypted and password-protected for increased security measures. If individuals choose to make a payment related to health services, they can also make those purchases using their personal health card.

The personal health card is compliant with the HIPAA Privacy Rule and security and privacy regulations under ARRA, according to a Healthcare IT News report.
