Overextended Staff Cited as Top HIT Concern

Healthcare technology professionals cited overextended staff as their top HIT concern, according to Avaya survey results.

When respondents were asked which results they expect from technology investments, 74 percent cited "improved level of care and response to patients." When asked what they considered to be the most beneficial value of mobile communications, the majority (67 percent) cited improved response time to patients.

Survey results also showed respondents' top concern was staff issues. Approximately 32 percent of respondents said "overextended clinical staff spending too much time performing non-patient care activities" would be the biggest challenge. This was followed by "poor or lack of effective communication amongst staff" and "bottlenecks in patient flow."
