ONC Releases 6th Wave of Draft Test Methods for Meaningful Use Stage 2

The Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT continues to release waves of draft test procedures and tools — most recently the sixth wave — to help providers test and certify electronic health record systems under stage 2 meaningful use criteria.

The first wave of draft test procedures was released in September with subsequent waves coming out every few weeks since then. Each wave introduces new test procedures.

ONC has not said how many waves there will be, but draft test procedures were to be originally posted through October. After the public comment and review period of all waves, ONC will revise and finalize the test procedures. The final version is expected to be available for use in testing and certification in early 2013, but a definitive date for its release has not been set.

Comments for each wave will be accepted for two weeks after the wave's initial posting date. Comments and suggestions should be submitted to ONC.Certification@hhs.gov .
