ONC Releases First Wave of Draft Test Procedures for Stage 2 EHR Certification

The Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT has released the first set of draft test procedures to be used for testing and certifying electronic health record systems under the Stage 2 standards and certification criteria for the meaningful use program.

The draft test procedures are available for public review and comment. According to the release, additional waves will be released on a week or bi-weekly basis until all have been posted.

A two-week comment period will follow each wave throughout September and October 2012. Comments and suggestions should be submitted to ONC.Certification@hhs.gov.

After the public comment and review period, ONC will revise and finalize the test procedures. The final version is expected to be available for use in testing and certification in early 2013, according to the release.
