A man in Florence, Ala., unwittingly acquired medical records for $1,000 when he placed a bid on a delinquent storage unit that he assumed contained medical equipment and old office files, according to a TimesDaily report.

Bobby Roberts bid $1,000 for the contents of a delinquent storage unit, which he later found held boxes of medical records from a diagnostic imaging center. The records, which dated from 2002-2009, included Social Security numbers, addresses, phone numbers, insurance information, driver's licenses and medical details.
