Insurers Show More Interest in 3 State Exchanges

Insurance companies are showing significantly more interest in offering plans on the health insurance exchanges in Illinois, Michigan and New Hampshire.

In Illinois, 10 health insurers, up from six last year, have applied to offer plans on the state's online marketplace in 2015, including UnitedHealthcare — the state's second-largest insurer. The health insurers will offer 504 health plans on Illinois' online marketplace this year, which is 339 more plans than were offered last year, according to a Chicago Sun-Times report.

In Michigan, five new health insurers intend to offer coverage, bringing the total number of health insurers offering plans on Michigan's online marketplace to 18, according to a report from The Hill.

In New Hampshire, the number of health insurers offering plans on the state's exchange is expected to rise from one to five in 2015, according to The Hill.
