CFO John P. Lewis: Improving investment performance for UNC Health Care

John P. Lewis has served as CFO for the Chapel Hill, N.C.-based UNC Health Care System since March 2008.

In his current role, he oversees financial services for UNC Health Care and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine. Under his leadership, UNC Health Care's non-operating performance was positive in 2013, attributable to improved investment performance during the year. Net income was $97.2 million, a 3.9 percent margin.

Previously, Mr. Lewis served as the CFO for Chapel Hill, N.C.-based UNC Hospitals from October 2005 to March 2008. Prior to joining UNC, he worked at Rex Healthcare, a UNC-owned hospital and healthcare system in Raleigh, N.C. Mr. Lewis was at Rex for nine years, the last two as CFO.

Additionally, Mr. Lewis has taught English in rural Japan and was a consultant for the strategy consulting firms SJS, Inc., and The Boston Consulting Group. He and his wife, Carol, live in Chapel Hill with their three children.
