Parkview Health to build 72-bed tower

Fort Wayne, Ind.-based Parkview Health plans to construct a six-story, 72-bed medical tower at its Parkview Regional Medical Center campus in Fort Wayne, according to WANE.

The expansion, announced May 21, will add 168,000 square feet and 72 inpatient beds to the medical center. About 63,000 square feet of the new tower will be vacant, allowing for future expansion.

"The number of people who choose Parkview for their care continues to rise," said Mike Packnett, president and CEO of Parkview Health. "We have deployed many initiatives to best meet these growing needs, including investments that have allowed for increased capacity at PRMC and Parkview Hospital Randallia. However, we find our Allen County inpatient bed capacity is insufficient to meet this growing demand."

The development is expected to add hundreds of jobs, according to the report.
