Aflac will begin selling a new lump-sum critical illness-insurance policy for patients with unexpected illnesses.
The product, when linked with Aflac's cancer assurance policy, covers up to nine conditions. The plan features a lump-sum payment upon diagnosis and provides additional benefits to help policyholders pay for ambulance costs and physical therapy.
The policy is available in Alabama, Delaware, Georgia, Iowa, Indiana, Mississippi, Nebraska, South Carolina and Wisconsin. Future expansions are planned.
"As more American workers build careers outside of the traditional workplace as freelancers, contractors, self-employed solopreneurs and in startups, Aflac is making more and more plans available to everyone, no matter where or how they work," Aflac said.
