60 Inova Health employees face August layoff

Inova Health System in Falls Church, Va., plans to enter a joint home care partnership with Dayton, Ohio-based Alternate Solutions Health Network, resulting in the potential layoff of about 60 employees, reports the Washington Business Journal.

The partnership, slated to take effect in August, calls for Alternate Solutions Health Network to manage Inova's home health business. It would affect 211 employees at Inova, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act notice filed with the Virginia Employment Commission June 19.

Inova said most of the affected employees would stay in their current roles as part of the partnership, but about 60 employees would potentially be laid off due to the shift of operational roles to the network's headquarters, according to the report.

Inova emailed the Washington Business Journal that it is working to help employees.

"Inova cares about our employees and is actively working with these individuals to help find and place them in another position within Inova, and/or providing them with professional career transition services," a health system spokesperson wrote.

Editor's note: Becker's hospital has also reached out to Inova for additional information about the layoffs and joint venture. Additional information will be posted as it is available.
